Actor Lee Sang-i is ready to captivate viewers by transforming into an ace detective from the violent crimes division.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Housewife Killer' (planned by Kwon Sung-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hoon, produced by Bon Factory, Wind Pictures, and Studio Pim), set to premiere on the 31st, is a romantic action drama depicting the work-life balance struggles of a working mom with the most brutal profession in the world.
Lee Sang-i takes on the role of Detective Lee Dong-jin, a sergeant in the Violent Crimes Division 2 Team at the Southern Police Station. As an ace detective who consistently ranks at the top in crime arrest rates and a relentless kingfisher tracker with unwavering conviction, he will stand at the forefront of the investigation and lead the drama's tension.
Regarding his participation, Lee Sang-i said, "Even though there's an original webtoon and I know who the culprit is from the start, the suspense feels taut and entertaining." He added, "Unlike my usual personality, this is a serious and solemn character, so I kept that in mind, and I tried to portray a person who is constantly filled with kingfisher in his mind."
Choosing the keywords 'black wolf,' 'mole,' and 'obsession' to express the character Lee Dong-jin, Lee Sang-i explained, "His appearance as he rushes at the culprit after preparations resembles a wolf, and the way he endlessly digs into cases reminds me of a mole." Regarding his synchronicity with the character, he mentioned, "My determination to set one goal and push forward to the end is similar."
Lastly, Lee Sang-i introduced 'Housewife Killer' as a multiplex content containing action, chase, family, and romance, and urged, "This is an entertaining and new style of birth, so please watch the broadcast premiere to see if we can catch the kingfisher."
'Housewife Killer,' based on the Kakao Webtoon original, will air its first episode on July 31st at 9:50 p.m.
