The film 'Return Home' meets audiences again as an extended version on its 10th anniversary.
Directed by Jo Jung-rae with a screenplay by Jo, and produced by JO Entertainment Korea and distributed by Connect Pictures, 'Return Home: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' released its main trailer and Tumblbug crowdfunding ahead of its August 26 release.
The released main trailer captures the testimonies and voices of Japanese military 'comfort women' survivors. The poignant scenes of girls facing harsh realities on foreign soil, their images as elderly women after the passage of time, and the iconic song 'Gasil' create a sense of deep melancholy.
'Return Home: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' added approximately 6 minutes of previously unreleased footage. By incorporating stories of Asian women who experienced similar suffering, it depicts the transnational solidarity of girls who never let go even in their harsh reality.
Coinciding with the release, Tumblbug crowdfunding runs until the 18th. Depending on the donation amount, supporters receive end credits name listing, national screening invitations, official merchandise and screenplays, and more. Additionally, nationwide screenings beginning in Busan on August 26, followed by Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Seoul, where director Jo Jung-rae will meet audiences in person.
