Film 'Gwikhyang: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' confirms its release date for August 26th and will hold a special screening in Osaka, Japan.
The screening of 'Gwikhyang: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' (screenplay/director Cho Jung-rae, produced by J.O Entertainment, distributed by Connect Pictures) will be held on July 28th at the multipurpose hall on the 5th floor of Bellnoirfuse in Osaka, Japan, with a total of 3 sessions. As an expanded version of 'Gwikhyang' which drew 3.58 million viewers in 2016, it adds 6 minutes of previously unreleased footage in commemoration of the 10th anniversary, shedding new light on the transnational solidarity of Asian women.
Director Cho Jung-rae and Kang Ha-na, a 4th generation Korean-Japanese actress who plays the main character Jung-min, will attend the local Osaka screening. The two will share the journey of memories and behind-the-scenes stories that have continued over the past 10 years through stage greetings held before and after the screening. The screening was made possible through cooperation between production company J.O Entertainment and local 'Theater Dal-oleurn', and there will also be an event where commemorative notebooks will be given to the first 300 attendees.
Director Cho Jung-rae conveyed his earnest hope that the Osaka screening and re-release will serve as a record of remembering fading history and protecting the dignity of the victims, noting that there are only five surviving victims remaining.
