SBS entertainment program 'My Remaining Romance' aired for the first time on the 3rd, and the story of cast member Kim Seonho, who was diagnosed with rare blood cancer stage 4 during military service, is drawing attention as it touches viewers deeply.
'My Remaining Romance' is a dating variety show that captures the process of young people in their 20s and 30s who have received terminal diagnoses or crossed the threshold of death as they face love and life again. In the broadcast, eight cast members shared their battle diaries and disease names, sharing their pain with one another.
Among them, Kim Seonho recalled the time when he was diagnosed with stage 4 'anaplastic large cell lymphoma,' a type of rare blood cancer, during his active military service. He mentioned the severe pain that even narcotic painkillers could not relieve, saying "Among those who fought together in the hospital room and promised to have a beer together when I get better, only I survived," evoking a poignant feeling. However, he soon revealed that after five years of battling illness last year, he received a diagnosis from the hospital stating "you don't need to come anymore" and was declared cancer-free, receiving applause from the cast.
In addition to Kim Seonho, confessions from young people who overcame their own suffering followed. Kim Jong-eun and Jung Ye-ji, who suffered from acute myeloid leukemia, Seo Ro-bin, who received bone marrow transplantation from her biological sister, Kim Yun-gi, who underwent total gastrectomy and continues chemotherapy, Kim Na-young, who lost hearing in her left ear due to a brain tumor, Kim Min-young, who overcame stage 4 osteosarcoma at age 14, and Do Gon, who endured 15 radiation treatments, all honestly opened up about their lives and wounds.
'My Remaining Romance,' which began its first departure with tears and empathy as cast members confirmed each other's pain, will develop full-fledged romantic storylines from episode 2 onwards.
