Actress Yang You-jin captivated viewers from the first broadcast with her tsundere charm as a realistic friend character.
In episodes 1 and 2 of the JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama 'Apartment' (written by Kim Yun-young, directed by Cho Yong-won) which aired on the 11th and 12th, Yang You-jin played Ha Young-joo, a longtime friend of Kang Ha-ri (played by Ha Yun-kyung), showcasing multidimensional acting that balanced uninhibited wit with warmth.
Ha Young-joo captured attention from her first appearance. In the perspective of Ha Young-joo watching from a distance as Kang Ha-ri pretends to be a child's mother at an elementary school sports day, complex emotions toward a friend living a precarious life were evident. Yang You-jin delicately portrayed the subtle emotions through her expression alone while watching her friend's clumsy role-playing, making a strong impression.
Subsequently, Yang You-jin breathed vitality into the drama with Ha Young-joo's characteristic directness and warmth. In scenes where she advises Kang Ha-ri—who is lying about getting a job at a law firm while even covering living expenses—to tell the truth before things get bigger, her genuine concern for her friend naturally shines through. Her blunt manner of speaking and realistic banter with Kang Ha-ri further highlighted their genuine friendship chemistry.
Ha Young-joo's sincerity continued afterward. When Kang Ha-ri confesses to kissing the groom Park Hae-gang (played by Ji-sung) while role-playing as a bride at a wedding, Ha Young-joo teases her playfully but soon expresses practical concerns about how to cover this month's living expenses. She then offers heartfelt advice to her exhausted friend to speak honestly and ask for help once more. Yang You-jin naturally infused her affection for her friend into her direct manner of speaking, perfecting her charm.
'Apartment' airs every Saturday at 10:40 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
