The military comedy 'Recruit' returns with its fourth season featuring even more laughter and relatability.
'Recruit 4: Sabotage' (directed by Min Jin-gi and Jo Je-wook, written by Yun Ki-young and Kim Dan, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by Story Island), which premieres on August 24 at 10 p.m., has released a teaser poster and first teaser video. 'Recruit' is a hyper-realism military comedy depicting the story of a gold-spoon recruit entering the military amidst all kinds of characters. In this season, Sergeant Park Min-seok (played by Kim Min-ho), who has been promoted and now has more worries, reunites with Sergeant Choi Il-goo (played by Nam Tae-woo) who has returned, a mysterious recruit, and the arrival of a battalion commander who will make waves, depicting the dynamic second half of barracks life returning to combat readiness. Director Min Jin-gi and writer Yun Ki-young reunite again, joined by writer Kim Dan from season 1.
The released first teaser video captures attention with the comeback of unit members equipped with comedy, relatability, and chemistry. Laughter is sparked by Park Min-seok's unchanged appearance as an accidental sergeant and Sung Yun-mo's (played by Kim Hyun-gyu) surprising behavior spotted in the administration section. The bewildered appearance of the 2nd platoon hints at a returning storm, and the chemistry between unit members who cause trouble whenever they gather and Sergeant Choi Il-goo, a new sergeant filled with personal anger, raises curiosity.
The released teaser poster features the increasingly dignified appearance of Shin-hwa unit members alongside the tagline "The Final Boss Has Arrived." Among the varied gazes, the charm of individually distinctive characters stands out, while the composition of Sergeant Park Min-seok with a serious gaze and Private Kim Hyun-wook (played by Lee Won-jung) with a complex expression draws attention. Newly appointed Battalion Commander Byeon Hyeok-jin (played by Lee Hyun-gyun) also gazes at something while holding the baton, sparking curiosity about what ripples he will create. Familiar faces ranging from seasoned veterans exuding presence to unit members with resolute expressions and discipline-enforcing officers raise anticipation.
This season also showcases a well-honed teamwork. Kim Min-ho anchors the center as Sergeant Park Min-seok, who dreams of peaceful military life. Newly joined Lee Hyun-gyun and Lee Won-jung take on the roles of Battalion Commander Byeon Hyeok-jin and ace private Kim Hyun-wook harboring secrets, respectively, infusing new tension and vitality. The unit members' chemistry is upgraded as well. In barracks 1, Kim Yo-han plays Moon Bit-nari, Lee Chung-gu plays Kim Sang-hoon, and Jeon Seung-hun plays Lim Da-hye in pleasant harmony. Barracks 3 is led by Kim Dong-jun as Jeon Se-gye, Lee Jung-hyun as Kang Chan-seok, and Jang Sung-beom as Kim Dong-woo. Additionally, Kim Hee-soo, Noh Sung-eun, and Kang Hyo-seung appear as Choi Byung-nam, Ji Jung-min, and Cha Byung-ho, respectively, taking charge of laughter and relatability.
The solid support staff and administration section also show diverse activities. O Dae-hwan takes on the role of Company Commander Jo Baek-ho, Nam Tae-woo plays Sergeant Choi Il-goo, and Lee Su-ji appears as Park Min-seok's sister Park Min-joo. Lee Sang-jin, O Yong, and Nam Min-woo take on the roles of O Seok-jin, Park Jae-soo, and Lim Sung-min, respectively, adding presence. Kim Hyun-gyu as Sung Yun-mo and Jo Jin-se as Noh Hee-jung also add fun.
The production team noted that with a new battalion commander above and a recruit with unknowable intentions below, unpredictable military life will unfold, and they requested much anticipation for the second half of barracks life to be portrayed by unit members including Park Min-seok who has become a veteran.
