The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) has begun its full-scale festival preparations by presenting 'Comedy School Attack.'
The Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee successfully held 'Comedy School Attack,' a traveling comedy performance, on the 10th at Samsung Girls' High School in Saha-gu, Busan. This program serves as a preliminary event providing cultural experience opportunities for young people, further raising anticipation for the main festival opening on August 21st.
The event featured Kim Byeong-wook, Chae Hyo-ryung, Kang Myeong-seon, and Seo Sung-kyung, who are active in KBS's 'Gag Concert 2,' performing popular segments including the audience-participation talk sketch 'What Should I Say?' as well as 'Simgok Police Box' and 'Military,' among others. Ad-libbed lines tailored to the students' reactions and witty remarks continued throughout, with laughter and applause erupting throughout the venue. Congratulatory video messages from Executive Committee Chairman Kim Joon-ho and Chief of External Cooperation Hong In-gyu also drew enthusiastic cheers.
In addition to the performance, various recreational activities with direct student participation received great responses. Tests of dynamic visual acuity, song-guessing games, and short-form challenge relay competitions were held, and at the end of the event, 'laughter scholarships' were presented to students who provided the most laughs, followed by commemorative photos. An organizing committee official stated that they will continue to make efforts in spreading comedy culture through programs that bring them closer to citizens.
Having established itself as Asia's largest international comedy festival over the past 14 years, the Busan International Comedy Festival plans to construct a dedicated theater and foster specialized talent to leap forward as Asia's leading comedy hub. The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival will be held throughout Busan from August 21st to 30th.
