Kim Ji-seok takes on the role of a husband facing a crisis between work and family.
"Yes, Let's Divorce" (directed by Ju Sung-woo, written by Hwang Ji-eon, produced by Canvas N), which is scheduled to premiere on KBS Drama channel on August 19 (Wednesday) at 11 PM, tells the real divorce experience story of a married couple who are the CEOs of a wedding dress shop, putting an end to their exhausted marriage.
Kim Ji-seok plays Ji Won-ho, the CEO and designer of the wedding dress shop "G&White" in the drama, showcasing a new side of himself. In the released first still cut, Ji Won-ho (played by Kim Ji-seok) captures attention with a refreshing smile and dandy charm. While showing a professional mindset befitting a capable designer, his somewhat agitated expression sparks imagination about the reason his wife Baek Mi-young (played by Lee Min-jung) informed him of the divorce.
Kim Ji-seok mentioned the keyword "process" and explained, "It's a story that shows in detail the process of once deeply loved lovers becoming a couple and eventually leading to divorce." He said, "The development of the story and each character's reasons were attractive," adding, "I hope you'll watch the raw process that realistically shows the emotions and situations each spouse feels and how they conflict with each other."
Kim Ji-seok, who watched many divorce-related programs to perfectly portray the character, expressed his affection for the role, saying, "Ji Won-ho may seem like an eccentric designer with a quick temper and stubborn image in people's eyes, but he's actually a lonely husband and man living alone, soothing himself while carrying an indelible wound."
He also praised the teamwork with Lee Min-jung, who he shares the couple's chemistry with. Kim Ji-seok said, "We had great chemistry from the beginning, and Lee Min-jung is so immersive as an actress that I was happy monitoring," adding with a laugh, "Since the Ji Won-ho character speaks to his wife without filters, I felt sorry every time even though it was acting."
Choosing "empathy" as the viewing point, Kim Ji-seok concluded, "Everyone always has differences in perspective and emotions accordingly, don't they? I want to provide vicarious satisfaction and catharsis in a way that allows people to empathize without filters."
