Countertenor Choi Sung-hoon of crossover group LA POEM successfully concluded his solo recital.
On the 11th, Choi Sung-hoon held a solo recital titled "Avec" at the IBK Corporate Bank Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, sharing a special musical connection with the audience. This performance marked Choi Sung-hoon's first solo debut at the Seoul Arts Center, and it sold out completely upon the opening of ticket sales, demonstrating the keen interest of audiences.
"Avec" took on added significance as Choi Sung-hoon personally directed and produced the concert. Having previously contributed various creative ideas to LA POEM's brand performance "Summer Night La La Land: New Era," he presented his musical world with greater refinement on this stage, showcasing his expanded capabilities as an artist. Inspired by French salon culture, the performance featured an intricate and elegant baroque ensemble in the first half, and diverse collaborative performances centered on French chanson with harp, violin, accordion, and piano in the second half.
Choi Sung-hoon reinterpreted diverse repertoires such as "Göttingen," "Je te veux," "La chanson de l'amour," and "Fallen Leaves" with his own sensibility. He demonstrated the true essence of countertenor singing by performing works such as Gluck's "Che farò senza Euridice" from his early vocal training days with deep, rich tones and delicate expressiveness. Standing ovations followed at the end of each segment, and during the encore performance of "Oh, Champs-Élysées," he created an atmosphere as if stepping into the heart of the streets of Paris by breathing together with the audience.
Completing the meaning of "together" contained in the concert title "Avec" through harmony with various instruments, Choi Sung-hoon expressed his gratitude, saying he was honored to take the stage thanks to many people's support and presence. Meanwhile, Choi Sung-hoon continues his active work as a member of crossover group LA POEM, recently concluding the group's brand performance successfully, and maintaining a broad range of musical activities moving between the group and solo projects.
