Director Choi Jung-kyu made efforts in production to express the collision between two spaces: reality and the world of spirits. Director Choi said, "To contrast the two worlds, we differentiated color and background, and made changes in various aspects such as filming format, editing rhythm, and music texture," and added, "We built the same space twice—once for reality and once for the spirit world—and distorted the floors, pillars, and ceilings to amplify the sense of alienation."
Fresh entities also draw attention. Along with the two-headed four-legged creature and the black spirit that appeared in the trailer, VFX has been actively utilized to vividly express spirit hunters, grudge spirits, and more. Director Choi noted, "We tried not to miss the characteristics of Korean folklore and concepts, and expressed them concisely."
Writers Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won said, "We borrowed names from creatures in Korean folklore and folk traditions and transformed them to fit the story," and explained, "We established a worldview by setting stages—those with lingering attachments become spirits, those with great resentment become grudge spirits, and those who kill people and fall into corruption become malevolent spirits."
Director Choi expressed his trust in the writing team, saying, "As the series progresses, the appealing details and meticulous narrative of the worldview are revealed."
