Director Yoon Jong-ho revealed his directorial intentions ahead of the first broadcast.
Scheduled to premiere on July 31st at 9:50 PM, the MBC new Friday-Saturday drama 'Housewife Killer' (Planning: Kwon Sung-chang / Screenplay: Kim Eun-hee / Direction: Yoon Jong-ho, Kim Ji-hoon / Production: Bonefactory, Baramfilm Pictures, Studio Pim) depicts the struggles of a working mother with a brutal profession fighting to maintain work-life balance. This is the next project by Director Yoon Jong-ho, who earned recognition for his sensible direction through 'Sell Your Haunted House'.
Director Yoon Jong-ho cited the unique setting containing realistic emotions that anyone can relate to as the greatest appeal. Although being a killer is unconventional, the struggle to balance work and family aligns with the stories of modern people.
Regarding directorial points, he explained that he focused on the choices and emotions of characters rather than provocative actions. He aimed to convey universal emotions through the story of a person struggling to protect their own life and family.
He also expressed deep trust in the cast. Director Yoon Jong-ho praised Gong Hyo-jin, who plays Yoo Bo-na, as the only actress who can connect the realism of a working mother with the unconventional setting of a killer, and said Jung Jun-won, who plays Joo Du-hyun, has the power to make the situation believable. He added that Lee Sang-yi, who plays Um Jung-yeol, maintains balance between seriousness and humor, and Sung Dong-il, who plays Choi Young-man, completes the narrative through his mere presence.
Selecting family love, romance, and balance as keywords that run through the work, Director Yoon Jong-ho expressed his hope that audiences will feel human warmth and the value of relationships through laughter and entertainment.
