The film '�yang: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' has confirmed its release date of August 26, and will hold a special screening in Osaka, Japan.
The screening of '�yang: Sister, Let's Go Home Now' (screenplay/directed by Jo Jung-rae, produced by J.O Entertainment, distributed by Connect Pictures), scheduled for July 28 at the multipurpose hall on the 5th floor of Bellnorfiuse in Osaka, Japan, will be held over a total of 3 sessions. As an expanded edition of '귀향' which attracted 3.58 million viewers in 2016, it adds 6 previously unreleased minutes in commemoration of its 10th anniversary, newly illuminating the transnational solidarity of Asian women.
Director Jo Jung-rae and actress Kang Ha-na, a 4th-generation Korean-Japanese who plays the protagonist Min-jeong, will attend the Osaka screening. The two will share memories spanning the past 10 years and behind-the-scenes stories through onstage greetings before and after the screening. The screening was made possible through cooperation between production company J.O Entertainment and local theater group 'Tal Oreum,' and a commemorative notebook giveaway event will be held for the first 300 attendees.
Director Jo Jung-rae expressed his earnest hope that the Osaka screening and re-release will serve as a record of remembering history that is fading and preserving the dignity of the victims, noting that only five surviving victim grandmothers remain.
