Director Lee Chang-dong's new film 'A Possible Love' has announced its theatrical release date and global premiere date.
'A Possible Love' (directed by Lee Chang-dong, written by Lee Chang-dong and Oh Jung-mi, produced by Fine House Film Co., Ltd., Anonymous Content, and Now Film Co., Ltd., presented by Netflix) will have its theatrical release in Korea on September 23, followed by its Netflix premiere on November 6. The film depicts the narrative of two couples—a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband—who meet to produce a documentary and confront each other's different lives and hidden desires.
The film has already garnered attention by being officially selected for the competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and the Special Presentation section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. Following precedents such as past films 'Frankenstein,' 'Maestro Bernstein,' and 'The Irishman,' it will first be shown in theaters to provide fans with a special experience, and will then reach audiences worldwide through Netflix.
The accompanying poster captures Mi-ok (played by Jeon Do-yeon) and Ye-ji (played by Cho Yeo-jeong) holding a camera beneath the light of dawn. In a composition where Mi-ok, the wife of a laid-off worker, and Ye-ji, who directs the documentary, face each other, a subtle tension is conveyed, heightening anticipation for the film's development.
'A Possible Love,' marking Director Lee Chang-dong's directorial work in eight years and bringing together leading actors including Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, Cho In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong, can be seen in theaters on September 23 and on Netflix on November 6, respectively.
