PD Kim Tae-ho's content production studio TEO and film distribution company Waterhole Company have joined forces. The two companies have established a strategic partnership based on the film lineup acquired by Waterhole Company and announced new synergies as they jointly promote theatrical distribution, marketing campaigns, and expansion into new business channels for each film.
TEO, which established itself as a leading entertainment production company at its launch, continues to take on new challenges across various fields including the 'Earth Ma Bool World Tour' series, 'Good Day', Netflix's representative entertainment IP 'Devil's Plan', and the 'Physical: Asia' series. Waterhole Company emerged as a distributor by topping the box office for imported foreign films during the pandemic period, and has introduced numerous films that have become classics to audiences, including 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train', the 7-time Academy Award winner 'Everything Everywhere All at Once', director Shinkai Makoto's 'Weathering With You', 'Baby Dinosaur Dooly: The Adventure to the Frozen Star', and 'Love Letter'.
The meeting between TEO, which has produced unscripted entertainment content, and a distributor handling scripted films has drawn market attention.
Kim Joo-hong, team leader of Megabox Content Planning Team, said, "This is a unique combination that no one could have anticipated. I'm curious to see how TEO, which has built a domain in entertainment, will promote two-hour immersive story content."
Kim Sung-hwan, CEO of About Film, who produced the films 'Extreme Job' and 'Wild Things', also responded, "It's unusual for an entertainment production company to participate in film distribution, which is difficult for production companies to approach. I look forward to the synergies the two companies will create during the release process."
Positive evaluations from the investment community followed. Kim Han-gyeol, partner at Saehan Venture Capital, said, "The attempt to deliver fun to theater audiences beyond TV viewers is fresh," and assessed that "in a saturated domestic market, the strategy of expanding horizons with overseas content with a established fanbase will be a meaningful breakthrough."
Kim Hwan-chul, partner at Michigan Venture Capital, analyzed, "It's noteworthy that TEO chose Waterhole Company, a small boutique player that communicates based on taste and aesthetic judgment rather than an established player. It's read as a brand expansion centered on content preferences rather than external expansion, which is promising."
Ju Hyun and Choi Seung-ho, co-representatives of Waterhole Company, said, "We deeply resonated with PD Kim Tae-ho and TEO, who are deliberating between content preferences and the public," and added, "At a time when watching movies in theaters is becoming a subculture, we were able to share our thoughts, and this will be an opportunity for the good films we've acquired to get one step closer to audiences."

The first collaborative content from both companies is A24's biggest anticipated film of 2026, 'The Drama'. Starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, 'The Drama', an all-time romance thriller that has surpassed 200 billion won at the global box office, has confirmed its theatrical release in September 2026. Following this, the companies plan to present diverse lineups including 'Mother Mary', directed by David Lowery and starring Anne Hathaway, and 'Stay by My Side', directed by Kinoshita Baku.
