Singer Cheon Rok-dam will showcase a stage that crosses over between rock and trot.
On the TV CHOSUN program "Gold Trot is Friday" airing on July 31st, 10 trot stars will reinterpret the life song of Golden Star Jung Soo-ra in their own colors.
First, Cheon Rok-dam throws down a trump card with Kim Chu-ja's "You Are Far Away." Based on his band experience during high school, he unfolds a stage that brings out rock spirit. After the performance, Nam Seung-min praises it as a perfect song, and Chun-gil also gives a thumbs up, calling Cheon Rok-dam's stage one that showed his own unique genre. Expectations are high for Cheon Rok-dam's performance harmonizing rock sensibility with trot.
Choo Hyuk-jin, who enters the face-off, selects Jung Soo-ra's signature song "Hwanhui" and turns the venue into a festive atmosphere with his unique energy and performance. When one audience member stands up to dance, MC Lee Teuk expresses admiration for the stage control that even gets the audience on their feet.
Meanwhile, a last-place escape match between Nam Seung-min and Yang Ji-eun also unfolds. When Nam Seung-min nominates Yang Ji-eun, the two face off with masterpieces by Cho Yong-pil and Jung Soo-ra, both winners of male and female vocalist awards at the 1985 KBS Music Awards. Nam Seung-min selects Cho Yong-pil's "Empty Space," while Yang Ji-eun chooses Jung Soo-ra's "One Day Suddenly," promising an unyielding competition.
TV CHOSUN's "Gold Trot is Friday," which will determine the second Golden Cup champion, airs on the 31st at 10 p.m.
