Director John Carney, who directed 'Begin Again', 'Once', and 'Sing Street', is coming to meet Korean audiences with his new film 'Sing Again'.
'Sing Again' (Director John Carney, Screenplay by John Carney and Peter McDonald, Imported by Revive Contents, Distributed by ByPoemStudio) confirmed its nationwide theatrical release on September 2nd. The film tells the story of two people whose lives have come to a standstill as they begin singing again to find the lost song.
Director John Carney won the Academy Award for Best Original Song with 'Once' in 2007, attracting 230,000 viewers, and in 2014, 'Begin Again' surpassed North American box office revenue in Korea, exceeding 3.7 million viewers. In 2016, 'Sing Street' also drew over 660,000 audiences and received great love from Korean viewers.
In this new work, the original song 'How to Write a Song (Without You)', created by the director himself, becomes central to the narrative. Gary Clark, who joined from 'Sing Street', is in charge of the music and is already being mentioned by foreign media as a strong contender for the best original song award at major film festivals.
The story unfolds in Dublin and LA, centered around a single song written together by failed wedding singer Rick Farris (Paul Rudd) and washed-up pop star Danny Wilson (Nick Jonas). Director John Carney explained that it is a story about two characters caught up in the music industry and how the same song takes on different meanings for each of them.
