Director Na Hong-jin of the film 'Hope' won an award at the New York Asian Film Festival.
The film 'Hope' (directed/written by Na Hong-jin, produced by Pozed Films, co-produced by Plus M Entertainment and Westworld Inc., presented/distributed by Plus M Entertainment) was selected as a centerpiece screening at the 25th New York Asian Film Festival and held its North American premiere on the 20th. Director Na Hong-jin attended the Q&A session following the screening to engage with the audience, and also met with director Ari Aster at the event.
Director Na Hong-jin received the 'Daniel A. Kraft Award for Excellence in Action Cinema' at the festival. Receiving the award on his birthday, Director Na Hong-jin expressed his gratitude amid the audience's congratulations and shared his acceptance remarks. The festival is also hosting a retrospective screening all of Director Na Hong-jin's directorial works.
Following the screening, favorable reviews from foreign media outlets continued. Critics from major outlets including The New York Times praised the original direction, meticulously designed action sequences, and distinctive narrative progression.
'Hope' tells the story that unfolds when Beom-seok, the head of the Hopohang outpost located in the Demilitarized Zone, hears news of a tiger sighting from local youths. 'Hope' is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
